Grant / Iceland in residence

The Iceland in Residence project is built on artistic cooperation between Icelandic and Polish visual artists, based on joint work on a multimedia material concerning contemporary Iceland.

Six photographers from Sputnik Photos, who have already been experimenting for some time with the new form, i.e. multimedia, which involves freely combining video, photography, sounds, archive materials and animations, together with three Icelandic film-makers will be participating in an artists in residence programme in Iceland. The residency will aim at joint work in three teams (each consisting of two Polish artists and one Icelandic) on separate multimedia materials concerning Iceland and the analysis of the independent Icelandic contemporary cinema.

Commonly produced multimedia works and five independent Icelandic films will be shown both in Iceland as well as in Poland (in local cinemas in three towns with up to 20.000 inhabitants and in Warsaw). The display will be accompanied by a free publication in a form of a trilingual brochure (in Polish, Icelandic and English), containing descriptions of the presented films as well as information about the project and work on the material gathered in Iceland. The project can be systematically followed on a special blog: www.icelandinresidence.wordpress.com
